Spiritual Vacations - A New Hype?

Karen A. Newton

With all of the things that make up our daily grind, we often find ourselves craving for the next getaway, for the next relaxation period, for the next holiday. Typically, it is difficult to isolate ourselves from the duties that we need to meet everyday. For some, it is school. For others, it is work. And even though schools and workplaces have holidays and other days off, they are still things to watch out for rather than look forward to the next day, whether it is by the teachers or the bosses.

Most of us dream of taking vacations even as we plod through our daily grind. A lot of people are big fans of the beach and the mountains, but here is an unusual idea I would like introduce to you: Spiritual Vacations.

These types of vacations target nurturing your well-being. It goes beyond making us feel "relaxed", as spas or even a quick trip to the nail salon can do. It nourishes our souls and keeps us in tune with our inner selves.

This might be the first time you have heard of these, but spiritual vacations are the "in thing" right now. For example, more and more people like the idea of traveling to Bali because it is regarded as the best destination for spiritual vacations.

So what really happens during these vacations?

First, there are actual retreats, which involve writing your feelings in your journal without harboring apprehension. This can help you become more honest with yourself and helps you confront your inner demons by stating the intentions behind your actions.

Then there are moments which are spent in complete silence. This is a very common feature of spiritual tours. Spending moments in utter silence does more than just clear your mind of the things that bother you during normal days. Also, it helps you have a clearer vision of what you really want. This is a basic component of any spiritual tour, as sometimes we are so consumed by our responsibilities that we forget to tend to our souls.

Also, spiritual vacations typically feature massages, which will help you relax. Getting massages is a given activity if you go travel to Bali. This is because Bali is really a hub for any spiritual tour because of its rich culture and what it can offer in terms of arts, dance, music, metal crafts and most of all, enlightenment. Bali is the most visited Indonesian city.

So the next time that you want to experience a spiritual tour, head to Bali. A peaceful and well respected hotel, the Bali Alila, is your best bet.

Check out what the hype is all about and take a spiritual vacation! Your soul will thank you for it...
