Neither Murtha's office nor the Virginia Hospital Center at Arlington would release details on his condition, Politico reported. His aides confirmed the Democratic congressman had laparoscopic surgery last week at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Officer testifies against co-workers

Officer Kevin Maloney, 27, said he was helping cuff the prisoner, Michael Mineo, as he lay on the floor of a subway station when he saw officer Richard Kern gripping the baton then move it, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

Baby burned by deep fryer transferred

The 13-month-old Coral Springs child was taken from Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale to the burn center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, The Miami Herald reported.
