Kitten Potty Training - Skip the Litterbox and Go Straight to the Toilet? By Kathleen D. Ryan Usually when people think of kitten potty training they naturally think of a kitten properly using a litter box. Actually most kittens do not need any real training to use a litter box. Unlike with puppies, once you show your kitten their litter box they are good to go and officially potty trained. So should you try kitten potty training with a human toilet? The answer to that is generally no. It is indeed possible to toilet train a cat but a kitten may not be ready. Part of the key to proper cat toilet training is to understand your cat and their personality and behavior. It can take a while to really know your kitten's behavior and personality traits when they are very young. Also there is actual danger to teaching a kitten to use the toilet - their size can keep them from getting out of the toilet if they fall in and thus they can drown. If you were to decide you want to give toilet training your kitten a try when they are bigger and a bit older, you can do some information gathering to get started on the right foot. The younger they are when you begin can really work in your favor (of course they still need to be old enough). It is usually easier to get kitten potty training done right when your cat is one year old versus five years old. In the time between your kitten being too young and small and until they are the right age for kitten potty training, you can take careful note of their behavior and learn their personality. By doing this you while have a better handle on what is the best method to toilet train your cat as well as how well your kitten will respond to this training. Additionally, you will have had time to absorb the training information and can more confidently and easily train your kitty. ======== If you want to know which personality traits will lead to easy cat toilet training and what is the right age to teach your cat, here is my #1 recommendation for kitten potty training. You will get a training system that gives you proven steps and techniques and the right information for teaching your cat to use the toilet all by Clicking Here. |
