Q&A: Raised Bed Gardens Question: What size should I make the frames for a raised bed garden? Answer: A common size is 4' across by as long as you want. That way, you can reach into the center of the bed without having to step in it. A length of 8 to 10' accomodates most lumber and/or purchased beds, and makes it convenient to walk around. |

Q&A: Euonymus in Container Question: I would like to use Euonymus japonicus 'Chollipo' as a container plant to provide an accent on a deck, shearing it to maintain size and shape. Is this reasonable? Do you have any recommendations on care? Answer: Euonymus japonicus 'Chollipo' is a narrow, erect evergreen with green leaves bordered in white. The mature size of your plant will be 12 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide. You can shear it annually to keep it smaller. 'Chollipo' will adapt to many growing and soil conditions, making it well-suited to growing in a container. To help your euonymus thrive, provide full sunshine, well-draining soil, and plenty of room all around to encourage good air circulation. This will help your plant avoid fungal diseases. |

Tip: Plant Radishes In warm winter areas, sow radish seeds now for an early spring harvest. Sprinkle seeds and cover them with 1/2 inch of potting soil. Keep the bed moist, thin seedlings to 3 inches apart, and harvest in 6 weeks. |
