Police: Ky. census worker killed himself

Bill Sparkman, 51, had life insurance policies with suicide clauses and apparently hoped to secure the money for his family, Kentucky State Police Capt. Lisa Rudzinkski said. Rudzinski, one of the lead detectives in the investigation, spoke to reporters at a news conference, The Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

Three Mile Island 'normal' after incident

No contamination was found outside the Exelon Corp. plant near Middletown, Pa., after a Saturday incident in which workers replacing two massive steam generators stirred up small amounts of dust-like radioactive particles, which were blown around inside the facility by its ventilation system, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.

'Unusual event' cited at Pa. nuke plant

The one-hour incident at the Beaver Valley 2 Power Station, operated by FirstEnergy Corp. near Shippingport, Pa., earned the lowest of the four Nuclear Regulatory Commission emergency classifications, utility officials said.

10 hurt in Connecticut bus crash

Daniel Warzoha, the city's emergency management director, said the accident happened at 8:20 a.m. on Interstate 95, causing backups as far as Norwalk, Conn., The (Stamford, Conn.) Advocate reported.
