Helicopter maker sued for post-crash fire

Among those killed in the August 2007 crash and fire were two South Korean furniture makers. Ilyas Akbari, an attorney representing one of the family of one of the victims, has filed suit claiming manufacturer Robinson Helicopter Co. failed to strengthen the gas tanks aboard the craft despite knowing that post-crash fires were a danger, Seattlepi.com reported Monday.

North Korea test-fires five missiles

The missiles, launched south of Musudan-ri, North Hamgyeong Province, were surface-to-surface KN-02 rockets with a range of up to 75 miles, an unidentified South Korean official told Yonhap news agency.

Report: No truth to Conn. kidnapping story

The Aug. 2 fight at a Greenwich, Conn., shopping center attracted national attention when police issued a press release linking it to human trafficking and kidnappings. Police documents obtained by the Greenwich Time and published Monday show authorities knew only a few days after the incident that none of those reports were true, and that the dispute was, in fact, an argument between three illegal immigrants and their driver.

Police: Mother drunk in fatal crash

Carmen Huertas, 31, was charged Sunday with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, police told The New York Daily News in a story published Monday.
