S.Korea, Japan agree on N.Korean nuke plan

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama spoke to reporters following their summit in Seoul. They planned to go to Beijing later Friday to meet with Chinese leaders, the Yonhap News Agency said.

Las Vegas ski resort opens really early

While October is par for the course in the Colorado Rockies, where the Loveland ski area is situated, it is early for Las Vegas in the Nevada desert, the Las Vegas Sun reported. The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort at Mount Charleston was only three hours behind the Colorado resort, starting the lifts running at noon Wednesday.

Woman, 3 newborns found dead in house

At a news conference Thursday, police said emergency crews were called to the house Sunday by the husband of the woman who said she had no vital signs, the Calgary Sun reported.

Landslides kill more than 100

At least 122 people have died and another 31 were missing in the landslides set off by remnants of now downgraded Typhoon Parma, which hit the Pacific island country a week after Typhoon Ketsana ravaged Manila and nearby areas, CNN said.
