Traveling Wisely - Three Tips

Jay A. Jenkin

Traveling can be quite the pain in the neck if you are not sure what you are doing. When you are done reading this article, hopefully the next time you travel, you will be a bit more savvy in the ways of travel and have a smoother experience over all.

Plan Ahead

The best and foremost thing is to plan ahead. Rushing yourself, whether it comes to packing in a hurry or leaving late to the airport, almost always leads to disastrous consequences. There's a high chance you will forget something if you pack too quickly or too late, and how will you afford to buy a new camera on vacation if you left yours at home?

If you leave late for the airport, you will be constantly stressed until you reach your gate in time. You have to drive to the airport, park your car, get your tickets and still go through security. And then if you are in a hurry, there is a very good chance that you may end up behind that person at the security checkpoint who holds up the line because he is a new flier and has pockets full of objects he continually keeps forgetting to take out. You could miss your flight because of this.

Pack Light

Pack light, especially if you are the kind of person that likes to bring vacation souvenirs home with them. Also, packing light makes it easier to get around such as places like the airport or a foreign hotel. Sure, there are bell boys and carts for your convenience, but you will pay for the help.

Prepare for Emergencies

Prepare yourself for emergencies. Emergencies can be very inconvenient anytime, but are especially so when you are on a vacation. For example, what if you left your wallet in the taxi and can't get it back? By carrying money in multiple places, such as in your luggage, your carryon, your purse/wallet, and even in your shoes, you can prevent yourself from ever being stuck with no money at all.

What if the airport lost your luggage? By carrying at least one change of clothing in your carry on and a few necessities, you could continue on your vacation for at least a day before they found your lost luggage and brought it to you.

By simply following these three simple ideas, you can easily prevent your dream vacation from turning into a nightmare.
