Church's 'love' banner stolen

Rev. Bruce Russell-Jayne of the Northern Hills Fellowship in Springfield Township said the banner, which read Standing on the Side of Love, was taken from outside the church late Saturday or early Sunday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday.

China attacks U.S. on Dalai Lama meeting

The Chinese demand came after the White House announced Obama, whose meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader has been pending since last November, would do so Feb. 18 at White House. In the past two weeks, China has been issuing a barrage of criticisms, threats and tirades against the United States on issues such as the Dalai Lama, arms sales to Taiwan, trade disputes and U.S. demand for the appreciation of the artificially undervalued Chinese currency.

Kremlin official urges property return

Alexander Beglov, deputy head of the Kremlin administration, said there are good reasons why the church property should be returned to its previous owners, but he also recognized the complex issues associated with such a plan, RIA Novosti reported.

Monks open monastery hotel in Ohio

The monks said the Monastery Inn in Canfield, which they opened at the former Canfield Colonial Motel, includes short- and long-term accommodations as well as a bookstore, a gift shop and a yet-to-be-completed retreat center, The Youngstown (Ohio) Vindicator reported Friday.
