Militant leader killed in shootout

Abu Sayyaf leader Albader Parad was among six members of the group killed in an hour-long gun battle between government soldiers and as many as 35 armed militants, Brig. Gen. Rustico Guerrero told the Philippine Inquirer.

Dingell to seek re-election to the House

Dingell, the longest-serving member of the House, said he'll seek re-election to a 28th term to fight for a stronger economy, environmental protections and healthcare reform, a priority of Dingell's since he filled his father's congressional seat in 1955.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service chief dies


10:03 AM, February 21

Hamilton, of Lawrenceville, Ga., was skiing with friends Saturday when he fell ill and was transported to Keystone Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, The Denver Post reported Sunday. The coroner's office said Hamilton's death was heart-related, without being specific.
