| 12/18/20 Dear MUSD Families, The Marana Unified School District Governing Board held a special meeting yesterday where they voted to temporarily transition to remote learning for all Marana schools beginning Monday, January 4 through Friday, January 22. This motion passed four to one, and we anticipate returning to our hybrid model on Monday, January 25. The initial recommendation from our administration was based on information from the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Pima County Health Department, where the latest data shows our community is experiencing accelerated transmission of the coronavirus. Even in our own MUSD community, we have seen an increase in staff and student cases and exposures after both Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break. We are hopeful that a temporary return to remote learning will allow for improved metrics county-wide as well as allow for adequate time for potential quarantine and isolation situations following the holidays. The District has been proactive with our communications about COVID cases in our students and staff. Over winter break, the District will not be sending COVID communications to staff and families, and we will not be updating our MUSD COVID Dashboard. We will resume our COVID email notifications when we return from winter break on Monday, January 4. Additionally, based on input from MUSD families and employees, the District has launched a COVID-19 Resource & Communication Center. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the content. The site contains information on our learning options, support services, food services, illness protocols and more. While 2020 has been an immensely challenging year for us all, it has also sparked creative innovations allowing us to foster resilience and reflect upon issues that matter most.
