Mountain Lion Monday

Good evening Mountain Lion families,

The end of a very long semester is fast approaching. We have made it to the last week of the first semester and the end of 2020. Although we do not know yet what the metrics will lead towards when we begin our second semester, I feel we are all up to any challenge after what we have experienced since March. And, our just rewards for what everyone has endured is a healthy and safe two week break. I hope everyone is able to enjoy time with family and if you are able to travel, I hope you have safe travels. And, I think we can all agree, it is time to usher out 2020 and welcome 2021!

This week we will have a slightly modified schedule. As you can see on the attached document, we do not have school Friday and Thursday will be a half day of school. For each of the four days this week our students will attend every class. In the past, we followed a final exam schedule. This year, we are meeting each class, each day.

We are also looking to modify our COVID-19 communications in the new year. Our hope is to interact with you earlier in the day and to minimize the phone calls. We will continue to connect with our families via email regarding positive cases at Mountain View High School.

Have a great week and a very Happy New Year!

The Parent/Guardian Commitment survey link is asking for a commitment from your family for the third quarter. Please fill out and submit ONLY one form for each student. Please complete the survey by Wednesday, December 9th.

Hybrid Attendance

If for any reason your student is unable to physically attend school on their "in person" learning day, and instead stays at home and attends classes via Zoom, please notify the attendance office.  The attendance office will adjust the attendance indicators to  acknowledge your student's  remote presence in class.

During this Remote/Hybrid Learning, we are changing our attendance procedure

In Short:

  • If your child is marked present for class, there is nothing to do.
  • If your child is marked absent, and you can verify that s/he did engage with school work, complete and submit the form so we can reflect that in Parent and StudentVue.
  • The form must be completed for each child separately.
  • The form can be re-used, and must be submitted for each day that you wish to correct.

Things to Know

From the MVHS Front Office,

MUSD COVID-19 Dashboard

Parents can now view a real-time tracking system of active and resolved COVID-19 cases throughout the District. The MUSD COVID-19 dashboard is refreshed every five minutes, so data will change as it is entered within our systems. To find the page quickly, you can bookmark it at https://www.maranausd.org/coviddashboard or navigate to it from the link on the Safe Return to School Page.

Open Enrollment Now Open

We are excited as we look ahead to next school year. Please assist us in spreading the word to interested families about Open Enrollment. All schools in the Marana Unified School District are open to all students, regardless of where they live.

Open Enrollment applications for the 2021-2022 school year are due on December 15. The application can be completed online at https://bit.ly/38lG0D1.

Please know that if your student is already attending our school through open enrollment, you do not have to reapply for next school year.

We are confident we have a very special and educationally enriching experience to offer students, and we hope you will share this news. Visit www.maranausd.org/openenroll for information about Open Enrollment.

Back to School Updates from Pima County Health Department
The Pima County Health Department and Pima County Superintendent of Schools understand that parents, teachers, staff and students may feel apprehensive about physically returning to school. With this in mind, we created this message to remind everyone of best practices when schools reopen for in-person learning. We invite you to take note of this valuable information. Watch it: English version | Spanish version

FREE Grab & Go Meals are still available! Parents can get a FREE Grab & Go lunch and a breakfast meal for the following morning at SIXTEEN participating #maranaschools! Visit https://www.maranausd.org/grabandgo for details on the NEW cafeteria and main office pickup options.
