Students earn grades by demonstrating their learning of the content. Our beliefs about learning and grading practices are grounded in the following statements: - All students can learn.
- Students learn in different ways.
- Assessment is a process for providing feedback that influences learning.
- Grades should accurately reflect learning and achievement.
Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Mountain View will be aligning school grading practices to match our beliefs and our commitment to providing hope and optimism. This change is based on current research and several years of school-wide professional development, including a book study of Grading From the Inside Out, by Tom Schimmer. We recognize that changes to school grading systems may bring questions or concerns. Beginning this school year, we will host several parent meetings to answer questions and to provide a more in depth explanation of our grading changes. Our first meeting will be: When: August 21, 2019 Where: Mountain View High School Little Theater Time: 6:30pm to 7:30pm Please RSVP to: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F044DAAA823A6F85-mountain1 More dates will be announced as interest and need arise. We are excited about these changes and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our students. | | | | |
