MUSD HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTARY LOW-IMPACT/NON-CONTACT

AUTHORIZED CONDITIONING WORKOUTS

Monday, August 10, 2020,during the Pima County Superintendent's Back to School Committee meeting, officials granted permission for student athletes to engage in low-impact/non-contact conditioning workouts at school sites across Pima County. Over the summer, MUSD high school leaders, athletic trainers, and our Return to School Task Force met regularly to develop safety protocols for these workouts.

Below (please click on the link to access) are guidelines for voluntary pre-season authorized workouts for fall sport student athletes in the district as well as a waiver for participation. These guidelines are based on recommendations from the CDC, National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS), Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA), and AIA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (SMAC). Please review this protocol with your student athlete and if possible, please bring a signed copy of this waiver to the first workout. Student athletes will not be able to participate without a signed waiver on file.

MUSD HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTARY LOW-IMPACT/NON-CONTACT AUTHORIZED CONDITIONING WORKOUT PROTOCOL

MUSD AUTHORIZED WORKOUT-  Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release of Liability

Regardless of sport or activity, all individuals involved must promote behaviors that reduce the risk of spread of illness during conditioning workouts.  Failure to comply with protocols may result in removal from workouts or suspension of workout privileges.  At this time, authorized conditioning workouts are being prioritized for student athletes that participate in traditional Fall sports programs. Student athletes will be expected to check-in for workouts at the entrance to the New Gym. All participants will be required to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing.
