Background
California's freight transportation system is a multi-modal
system designed to move freight across the State, the nation, and
the globe. The freight system is a critical part of our economy
and a significant contributor to our air quality concerns. The
purpose of the Sustainable Freight: Pathways to Zero and
Near-Zero Emissions Discussion Draft is to describe ARB's vision
and levers to achieve a more efficient, cleaner freight system.
The document identifies ARB's immediate actions and near-term
actions to reduce health impacts near freight hubs and regional
pollution, as well as ARB's long-term vision to transition to a
system that relies on zero and near-zero emission equipment.
California is in a drought emergency.
