A love of literature meets a marketplace need. The result? A flourishing business!

Co-founders Alex Bloomingdale and Brad Satoris were successful entrepreneurs who had shared a love of literature since their college days -- particularly Shakespeare. The concept for eNotes.com came out of that love. They wanted to create a place on the internet where people could discuss and dissect literature; where teachers and students could "meet" and further their studies. They quickly realized they weren't the only ones who craved this destination -- there was a significant marketplace need they could fill. They envisioned eNotes as more than a shallow, "Cliffs Notes" type of resource. Instead, they focused on attracting the best educators and providing serious content that would appeal to both teachers and students. And, in 2004, eNotes.com was launched.

"eNotes.com began as a site for literature study guides. Over the past 6 years, it has grown into an all-purpose study site for students and teachers. The site combines the highest quality content such as study guides, lesson plans, and reference materials with a vibrant and active community. Currently the site has over 700,000 registered users and more than 4,000,000 unique visitors per month."
