A Community of Empowered, Innovative and Engaged Citizens | | | Good evening Mountain Lion families, Last week, one of our teachers shared a message with our administrative team. It was a very kind note expressing their gratitude for our hard work. We, as a team, truly appreciated this gesture. Yet, we know that the same message could and should be shared with everyone. Our students are being challenged in ways they never imagined prior to this pandemic. Students learn best when they are with their teachers. However, that is not the environment we are currently in and we know that many of our students are struggling. As parents, many of you did not sign up to become teachers. In the last seven months, many of you have had to adjust your work and personal lives to provide support for your children while they learned from home. Our teachers have undergone extensive schooling and preparation to teach. Though, very little if any of that time was spent learning how to deliver content remotely or in a hybrid setting. But, each day they show up and work harder than they ever have in the past and are doing everything in their power to provide meaningful instruction in a hybrid model. As I said, everyone deserves that same recognition that was shared with my team – everyone is a hero right now and we are grateful for this opportunity to provide support and leadership through the most challenging of times. I also wanted to offer a heartfelt thank you to a few people that have worked incredibly hard with our COVID situation and have led at the school and district level through these turbulent times. Tanya Read, our school nurse, has taken on a huge responsibility at this time and we are very thankful for her hard work on contact tracing and mitigation planning. At the district level, we are so thankful for Alli Benjamin, our new Public Relations Director, who jumped in with both feet and has been an amazing support to every school at this time. And, Nicole Pargas, our district Health Director, who has been an incredible resource to all of us at every site during this time and has led from the front throughout our return to school. Thank you! Have a great week. Thank you for your support. Hybrid Attendance If for any reason your student is unable to physically attend school on their "in person" learning day, and instead stays at home and attends classes via Zoom, please notify the attendance office. The attendance office will adjust the attendance indicators to acknowledge your student's remote presence in class.
