July 1, 2020 Dear MUSD Parent/Guardian: It is with a great deal of excitement that I share my first communication to you as the Superintendent of the Marana Unified School District. Not only am I looking forward to transitioning into this exceptional school district, but I am honored to serve this remarkable community. Having served as the superintendent of the Humboldt Unified School District in Prescott Valley, Arizona, I have long known of the outstanding statewide reputation that the Marana district prides itself on. In addition to the District's strong academic reputation, one major factor in pursuing this opportunity is the strong family-oriented culture and parent/community to school partnerships that I believe exists in Marana. I have not been disappointed in my initial learning conversations. Over the past couple of months, I have worked closely with the Governing Board, Senior Leadership, and school and district administrators. It is evident the dedication and commitment to excellence that exists throughout Marana. I have already seen where the educational community, as well as the Marana community at large, have a heart for the wellbeing of our students. I have been warmly welcomed, and my wife, children and I are excited to be a part of the community. Our state, country, and the world are experiencing unknowns and uncertainty; however, I want to reassure you that the Marana district remains vigilant in our Safe & Thoughtful Return to School planning, aligned with the guidance of our local health authorities and state educational agencies. I am currently working with our senior staff regarding Governor Ducey's most recent Executive Order. There are many more decisions to make over the next several weeks, and we will share information with our families as we continue to plan for the opening of school this fall. I am confident that working together, we will be prepared to provide your student with a safe, high-quality academic experience. Despite these unusual and evolving times, the road ahead for our District is filled with promise. I believe in the strength of communication and relationships, collaborative teaching and learning environments, strong learner-centered programs and high-quality instruction, aligned with a focus on the empowerment of educators. I also believe that there is always room to grow and our promise to our students, families, and our community is that MUSD will continue to build on the traditions of educational excellence that are the hallmarks of the District as we search for even greater innovative empowering pathways. The future of MUSD lies in the collective wisdom of our Governing Board, the innovation of dedicated educators, principals, and support employees, and the continuing partnership of parents and community members who support the District, and, most of all, it lies in the hearts and minds of the students we are honored to serve. Working together, we will continue to do great things I look forward to serving our community and getting to know you and your student. Best wishes to you and your family. Please stay healthy and stay connected. Sincerely, Dan Streeter, Ed.D. Superintendent |
