Thank you for your continued support for your child as they are working hard at school and also putting a lot of effort into performing well on the AzMerit tests. We have just one week left and then we will be done with testing for the year! I am very proud of all the students who have really taken their time and performed their best during each of our testing sessions. We all know, that we are educating the whole child and state tests are certainly not the most important thing we do at MMS. However, it is one way we measure how effective our instructional practices are, so we are pleased that the students are giving their all! Have a wonderful week. | AIMS and AzMerit Testing: | Next week, we will continue our testing schedule. Just a reminder, for all of the AzMerit tests, students will take the test with their Language Arts or Math teacher depending on the test being administered. On testing days, we will be following a modified block schedule so students have plenty of time to take the test. Any student who needs additional time beyond the school day, may stay after school and take the activity bus home if they would like. That schedule is attached for each testing day. We hope you will encourage your child to take their time and do their best on the test. They have worked hard with their studies all year, and it is now time to demonstrate that their hard work has paid off! | Washington DC Trip for Next Year-Parent Meeting | Attention 7th Grade Parents, On Monday May 14 we will have an informational meeting about next year's 8th grade Washington DC trip! The meeting will occur at 7 pm in the MMS library. We will discuss all details, including how to pay for this amazing trip to our nation's capital. Please plan on attending if you interested in giving our child an incredible learning experience. | Shout OUT! | Congratulations to our SRO, Officer Larkin for being selected as the 2018 recipient of the Law Related Officer of the Year from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, The Arizona Bar Foundation. Officer Larkin works with our students every day and makes our campus a safe and welcoming environment. Way to go Officer Larkin! | Athletics | Hi Falcon Athlete Families! We hope you are enjoying watching your child excel in athletics. 4th Quarter grade checks will be the week of April 23rd and will be based on Q4 Progress Report Grades. Students with any failing grades will not be allowed to participate in athletics until their grades have improved. We encourage you to check your child's grades on ParentVUE regularly to ensure that this is not a problem. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Sue Miller at s.z.miller@maranausd.org or at 520-682-4724. Go Falcons! Parents are encouraged to come and meet in small groups with representatives from the Early Academic Outreach to learn how to best support and encourage their young student-athletes to pursue higher education. The event is Sunday, April 22nd from 1-4pm in the Jim Click Hall of Champions. See the attached flyer for registration information | Counseling Corner | Remember, we have counselors to assist students with their social / emotional needs. If you notice that your child seems stressed, angry, or sad, please reach out to our counselors so that we can offer support. | PBIS: Positive Behavior Intervention Support | At MMS, we have high expectation for student behavior! Every day we tell students that we expect them to show RESPECT, take RESPONSIBILITY for their words and actions, and to have PRIDE in all they do and say. When students meet our expectations, we strive to recognize them. Sometimes that means we give them a Falcon Ticket to let them know we appreciate their behavior. Students can then place their Falcon Ticket in a prize box for a chance to win one of four great prizes. This month's prizes include: a $25 Amazon gift card, a $25 Bass Pro Shops gift card, a 32 oz. Hydroflask, and a $25 American Eagle Outfitters gift card. | | Marana Middle School will provide an experience that fosters life-long academic and personal growth in a world-class education environment. Faculty and staff will collaborate with families, students and the community to develop strong, caring and productive leaders. | | ***PRIDE***RESPECT***RESPONSIBILITY*** 11285 W.
