Good evening Mountain Lion families,
I want to start by thanking all of our families for their support last week as we lost our internet and email capabilities. We are still bringing a few systems back online across the district and know that there were some frustrations regarding the outage. Thank you for understanding and for your patience.
Our school leadership has been meeting with Dr. Streeter recently. In those meetings we have learned about his vision for the Marana Unified School District and we are very excited. Dr. Streeter wants our district to be a nationally recognized district. What is most exciting about that is we have the same goals for Mountain View. With our No Opt-out and multitude of other interventions, our new grading philosophy, the work our teachers are doing on assessments and the impact we are having on our students learning and our students increased level of hope and optimism through meaningful and engaging activities, we too want to be nationally recognized. We have goals that support this vision and are very focused on making Mountain View not only the Lamplighter for Arizona but a leader in education in our country.
Just a reminder, that this week we begin our Spring State Assessments. We will be running a different bell schedule so that our students who are testing have every opportunity to perform their best.
All sophomores will begin their ELA AzM2 with their English teachers, while all juniors will take their SciAIMS with their science teachers later in the week.
Please note our attached schedule for the week.
Students who are not testing will benefit from having longer access to their teachers and content.
For sophomores and juniors learning remotely:
Sophomores and juniors who will be learning remotely will not test with their onsite colleagues. Remote students have the opportunity, if they choose, to come to campus on Friday, April 16th or 23rd to complete either the AzM2 or AzSCI. Please follow this link to sign up for a date: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/remotelearners
Passing these exams are not currently a graduation requirement for high school students. However, we ask that you encourage your child to take their assessments seriously and prepare for this test as best as possible.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Tidwell at 579-4412, or email m.a.tidwell@maranausd.org.
Mountain View High School senior Jack O'Brien was selected by the Tucson Jazz Music Foundation to perform in a special jazz video recording project of the song REUNION, composed by Benny Golson. Great job, Jack.
