Mountain Lion Monday (late edition)

Good evening Mountain Lion families,

Happy February. A lot of people think of February and think of happiness and love. As we continue in our Hybrid Learning Model we should all reflect on where we have been and be happy for what we do have during this pandemic. It becomes harder and harder to appreciate things when times are tough but we are also turning over our calendars to a new month and hopefully one month closer to a return to normal.

Last week we held our Future Mountain Lion Nights. We held two events via Zoom and although we much prefer to be with our new families in person, it was great seeing everyone and planning for our Class of 2025. If you have an incoming Freshman or have friends that will be joining the Mountain View family, please share this link with them: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AF1kuTVlTPJRKrn_81q9-RA6RritVy87/view?usp=sharing

As a part of the presentation, I shared a slide that says "Don't fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today." This is a powerful message. We constantly want our students to be challenged and to face adversity and to overcome these by showing grit. This morning I heard a similar quote, "It's not about being the best. It's about being better than you were yesterday." If we can all strive to be better each day we can make a big difference in our world.

Below is some valuable information regarding our ParentVUE app. We reference this often as this app will allow you to see your child's grades.

College, Career, Counseling

This week, Counselors will be meeting with all of our  9th- 11th grade students through their English course, to talk to them about their course selections and new course offerings for the 2021-2022 school year.

Following our presentations, February 5th- 11th, we will be providing speed advising to students. This is a great opportunity to ask quick questions about course selections. For more in-depth questions, we request that students make an appointment with their counselor, after their course selection presentation (after February 3rd). Appointment links can be found in your students grade level google classroom.

Junior students will receive Junior Advisement on February 5th,  this presentation will cover: next steps for post-high school plans and other important information for both their junior and senior year.

We encourage you to talk to your student(s) about their plan for their 2021-2022 courses, post-high school plan and their graduation progress. If they have any questions or aren't sure what they want to do, please encourage them to make an appointment with their counselor or the College and Career Center (CCC). Students can find appointment links for their counselors and the CCC in their graduating class google classroom (ex: Class of 2021).

If you have any questions or concerns in regards to your student(s) plan or graduation progress, please do not hesitate to contact us at 520.579.4450.
