Dear Parent(s) of Mrs. Johnson's Chemistry class
Yesterday your son or daughter had a test on Unit 6. This unit covered chemical properties to help distinguish a substance as either ionic or molecular. They were also were to demonstrate understanding of how chemicals are named and formulas are written based on these properties. The last section was on the atomic history of JJ Thomson and what his contribution was to the atomic model.
The students grades are posted in Synergy for you and your student to view. I was hoping for better scores. All hope is not lost, students are able to restudy the material, get some extra tutoring and retake all or a portion of the test they did poorly. The better score will be the one that is recorded in the grade book. We will be taking these retakes during regular class time before rodeo break.
It is the student's responsibility to seek tutoring and ask for retakes outside of class time. This is were I need your encouragement and ask them if they are taking advantage of this opportunity to better their grade. They will need to study outside of class time to improve.
For reteaching, your student can ask to come into my class during summit, ask for lunch tutoring or come see me to make special arrangements before or after school.
I encourage you to talk with your child about his or her scores.
If you have questions, please contact me.
