Chromebooks Info

Dear Marana High School Parents and Students,

During Tiger Days, students will be checking out their Chromebooks.  I'd like to outline the following information concerning the connectivity and operation of the Chromebooks.

The Chromebooks will be restricted/locked down until the first day of school.  This means that websites other than the Marana Unified District page will not be accessible.  As soon as the students begin classes, all functions and accessibility will be restored.

The Marana School District holds the safety of your students as our top priority.  Gaggle is a security software that notifies administrators when inappropriate language, threats, talk about drugs and alcohol, talk of suicide, and inappropriate or pornographic images are accessed on the Chromebooks.  This material, whether written about on documents or email, downloaded, shared, or when inappropriate websites are viewed, will immediately be flagged by the program, and a case number will be generated.  Students who are flagged by Gaggle will be immediately referred to administration.  Gaggle will begin monitoring as soon as the student logs into the Chromebook the first time this year.  Consecutive or multiple referrals to administration by Gaggle may result in restricted usage of the Chromebook or removal of Chromebook privileges.

Note: Charging your phone via the Chromebook may inadvertently trigger a download of your pictures to the Chromebook.

We are looking forward to an exciting academic year at Marana High School, and we are excited to meet our students and parents during Tiger Days.

 Sincerely,

John Deeb

Associate Principal
