Dear MHS Parents/Guardians,
I want to begin by thanking our families who were on campus today for Tiger Days for their understanding and patience this morning. We started using the online system this year, and while we did experiment with the system prior to this morning, we were not able to anticipate all of the possible issues that might arise. The check in process was slower than we anticipated because the online system refreshed slowly, which made the intake move slowly – and some families had to complete portions of the online process in the gym. Therefore, it appeared as though the line was not moving and that systems were not working. However, I assure you that everything was working, and families were generally able to complete the process in a reasonable time based on the number of families we served. If you had to wait longer, I do apologize for any unanticipated delays in your schedules because of Tiger Day.
We have made some changes to help the line move quicker, but please anticipate that if you arrive first thing in the morning along with a large crowd, as happens with any long line, the line will appear to move slowly. Our staff works hard to follow District guidelines (which includes verifying that the online portion has been completed), and provide the best service that we are able. With that said, to keep your time at the school limited, I suggest trying to arrive later in the morning or early afternoon if you are able (there is no benefit to schedules or any privilege by arriving early!).
Thank you again for your patience as we work on this system that is new to us, to you, and to our District.
Sincerely,
David Mandel
Principal
Dear Marana High School Parents and Students,
During Tiger Days, students will be checking out their Chromebooks. I'd like to outline the following information concerning the connectivity and operation of the Chromebooks.
The Chromebooks will be restricted/locked down until the first day of school. This means that websites other than the Marana Unified District page will not be accessible. As soon as the students begin classes, all functions and accessibility will be restored.
The Marana School District holds the safety of your students as our top priority. Gaggle is a security software that notifies administrators when inappropriate language, threats, talk about drugs and alcohol, talk of suicide, and inappropriate or pornographic images are accessed on the Chromebooks. This material, whether written about on documents or email, downloaded, shared, or when inappropriate websites are viewed, will immediately be flagged by the program, and a case number will be generated. Students who are flagged by Gaggle will be immediately referred to administration. Gaggle will begin monitoring as soon as the student logs into the Chromebook the first time this year. Consecutive or multiple referrals to administration by Gaggle may result in restricted usage of the Chromebook or removal of Chromebook privileges.
Note: Charging your phone via the Chromebook may inadvertently trigger a download of your pictures to the Chromebook.
We are looking forward to an exciting academic year at Marana High School, and we are excited to meet our students and parents during Tiger Days.
Sincerely,
John Deeb
Associate Principal

Good Evening MHS Tiger Families,
We are getting so close to the start of the year! With just one week until we see everyone come to campus for Tiger Days, I want to send along a few important reminders.
The schedule is as follows:
SENIORS: (July 24) Tuesday – 7:30 – 3:00*
JUNIORS: (July 25) Wednesday – 7:30 – 3:00*
SOPHOMORES: (July 26) Thursday– 7:30 – 3:00*
FRESHMAN: (July 27) Friday– 7:30 – 3:00*
*When you arrive, please park in the West (Student) lot. The gym is just inside the gate and all of our services will be inside the gym.
MAKEUP: (July 30-31) Monday & Tuesday in the Front Office – 8:00 – 3:00
Please note the following:
Schedules will be available during Tiger Days, and will be posted on StudentVue & ParentVue after Tiger Days has ended. We have done our best to honor the requests made in the Spring by students and parents for the courses that they hoped to take and for free periods (for 11th and 12th grade students). Even with our best efforts, we sometimes are not able to meet all of the demands and we know that some changes of schedules must happen. However, we are only able to accommodate requests for changes to schedules for specified reasons. Our families will be able to meet with our counselors to change schedules during Tiger Days for the following reasons:
We take a great deal of time in the Spring to communicate to parents and students that requests for courses that are Advanced Placement, Pre-AP, Dual Enrollment, or other advanced courses are of particular importance. This is because we are not able to make changes to enrollment in these courses until at least 4 ½ weeks.
We look forward to seeing all of our Tigers over the next few weeks and to begin our school year together.
Sincerely,
David Mandel
