| | "Marana does Bernstein!" | | The public is invited to a special student symposium and performance with George Hanson, TDSF Director | | | Marana High School's choir program is honored to present the first-ever student symposium "Marana Does Bernstein", as the pre-opening event for the 2018 Tucson Desert Song Festival "Bernstein at 100: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Leonard Bernstein." The Symposium features two of Marana's six choirs performing selections from the musical West Side Story and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. Attendees will hear insights about Leonard Bernstein's work in education and investment in future generations from special guest, George Hanson, former assistant to Mr. Bernstein and current director of the Tucson Desert Song Festival. The Symposium will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 10:30-11:45am, at Marana High School, 12000 W. Emigh Rd., Tucson, AZ 85743. The event is free and open to the public. The Tucson Desert Song Festival (TDSF), January 16 through February 4th, 2018, in Tucson, Arizona, will celebrate the life and music of Leonard Bernstein, the iconic conductor, composer, pianist and educator. Over a period of eighteen days, TDSF, in partnership with Tucson's leading arts organizations, will present 30 events honoring Bernstein at 100.
