arbcombo -- Draft Technology Assessment for Transport Refrigerators Posted
The California Air Resources Board (ARB/Board) announces the
release of the draft document "Technology Assessment: Transport
Refrigerators."
This draft technology assessment examines technologies projected
for development over the next five to ten years that can be
applied to transport refrigeration systems and insulated cargo
vans to reduce fuel consumption, greenhouse gases (GHG) and
criteria pollutant emissions (e.g. nitrogen oxides and
particulate matter). Such technologies support ARB's long term
objective of transforming the on- and off-road mobile source
fleet into one utilizing zero and near-zero emission technologies
to meet air quality and climate change goals.
Sources of information used in the draft assessment include an
extensive list of published reports, research papers, and
documented conversations with technology experts. The draft
assessment discusses each technology by providing a basic
description, the current state of development or commercial
readiness, economics, potential emission reductions, advantages,
and key performance parameter issues and deployment challenges.

measure is only in the preliminary concepts phase, and workshops
to discuss the concepts with stakeholders will begin fall 2015.

arbcombo -- Agenda Posted: August 5, 2015 Symposium on the Governor's Natural and Working Lands Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals
On August 5, 2015, the California Natural Resources Agency,
California Department of Food and Agriculture, and California Air
Resources Board will conduct a public symposium to discuss the
development of strategies to achieve Governor Edmund G. Brown
Jr's 2030 greenhouse gas reduction goals. The draft agenda for
this symposium is now available on the Air Resources Board's

This symposium will discuss strategies to secure and enhance
carbon storage on natural and working lands, including farms,
rangelands, forests and wetlands throughout California. Topics
include protecting and managing land to minimize greenhouse gas
emissions, increase carbon sequestration rates, and improve
opportunities to develop synergies that promote resource
stewardship and contribute to greenhouse gas emission reductions
in other sectors.
This symposium is one of a series of public forums soliciting
stakeholder input on five key climate change strategy pillars
that Governor Brown identified in his January 2015 inaugural
address. The pillars recognize that several major areas of the
California economy will need to reduce their emissions to meet
the 2030 target. The five pillars are: (1) reducing today's
petroleum use in cars and trucks by up to 50 percent; (2)
increasing from one-third to 50 percent our electricity derived
from renewable sources; (3) doubling the efficiency savings
achieved at existing buildings and making heating fuels cleaner;
(4) reducing the release of methane, black carbon, and other
short lived climate pollutants; and (5) managing farm and
rangelands, forests and wetlands so they can store carbon.
