The Marana Unified School District (MUSD) Governing Board set a target date of Monday, March 22 to transition to a full five-days of in-person instruction.  All families will again have the opportunity to choose between in-person and remote learning.  MUSD administration will explore either a phased approach, starting with returning pre-K and elementary students or pre-K-8 students to in-person instruction first, or a full implementation, returning all students in pre-K-12 at once.  We are asking for updated commitments to help us make any necessary revisions of class assignments and student schedules for the FOURTH QUARTER. Please fill out and submit ONLY one form for each student by Friday, February 19, 2021.

A Community of Empowered, Innovative and Engaged Citizens Mountain Lion Monday Good evening Mountain Lion family, I wanted to start with a quick reminder that in lieu of progress reports, we now have Student Academic Checkpoints. The next one of these is Wednesday, February 17th. We have asked our teachers to updates grades and ask our parents to check on their students' academic progress at this time. At Mountain View, our goals continue to be: Student engagement Interventions Grading and Assessment To that end, our teachers continue to produce meaningful lessons that engage our students academically. And, although we are limited in our current learning model, we have been providing academic interventions when possible. Finally, and with the academic checkpoints, grading is important. When you look at your student's grades, remember that we have established a baseline of 50%. If you child has a grade hovering in the 50's at this time, they are not engaged in their learning and are not taking advantage of the interventions at Mountain View. This is not the best environment for students to learn but they still need to be engaged and actively participating in their classes. This will be especially important in the weeks and months ahead. Thank you for your support with regards to grades, attendance and participation. MUSD Transitioning to Regular Bell Schedule in Enhanced Hybrid Learning Model Beginning Monday, February 22, MUSD will return to a regular Monday-Thursday bell schedule when students are in school in-person. The District remains in the hybrid learning model at this time. Students will continue to have two days of flipped learning on rotating cohort days and Fridays will remain remote. It is our goal to implement the regular Monday-Thursday bell schedule for the remainder of the school year to provide students, teachers, and families a consistent schedule. The District will continue to keep teachers, families and staff informed of any schedule changes. The week of February 22 is Rodeo Break and therefore is a shortened week. We will implement the following schedule to balance in-person learning time: Week of February 22 - Rodeo Break week: Mon, February 22: Cohort A in-person, regular bell schedule Tues, February 23: Cohort B in-person, regular bell schedule Weds, February 24th: Remote Learning for all learners  Below is some valuable information regarding our ParentVUE app. We reference this often as this app will allow you to see your child's grades. College, Career, Counseling    Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Student's Course Request Selection Google form and online StudentVUE Course Selection Requests, were due last Friday, February 11th. Students had time to complete this StudentVUE & Google entry in both their English and Summit classes. Please, also check with your student to see if they have completed their google form and StudentVUE entries. We encourage you to talk to your student(s) about their plans for their 2021-2022 courses, post-high school plan and their graduation progress. To see if your student has completed their StudentVUE entries, you can have them open their StudentVUE, click on "Course Request" and you should see something similar to the following: Students should have 12 selected course requests (6 classes) Students should pick a grade level appropriate English, Math, Science and Social Studies in addition to electives for a total of 12 course requests or 6 classes 6 selected alternate course requests (3 classes). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Only (2) parents or legal guardians per athlete/family will be able to purchase tickets at the gate. Now for both home and visiting teams.  No children or other adults will be permitted. Tickets are only valid for the game that their student is participating/playing in. Spectators will be asked to clear the gym/field after every contest. Appropriate masks are required to be worn covering both the nose and mouth at all times while you are on campus. Social distance between family groups. Players and spectators are not to congregating on campus or in the parking lot after their contests are over.

Terms of Service and Privacy Policy Friday, February 12, 2021 Feb. 12 Return to School Update from Superintendent February 12, 2021 Good evening MUSD Families, I am writing to provide you with the latest updates on the District's plan to return to a full five-days of in-person learning. Based on continued research and support from community health partners, a motion was passed at the Governing Board meeting last evening to set a target date of Monday, March 22 to transition to a full five-days of in-person instruction. All families will again have the opportunity to choose between in-person and remote learning. MUSD administration will explore either a phased approach, starting with returning pre-K and elementary students or pre-K-8 students to in-person instruction first, or a full implementation, returning all students in pre-K-12 at once. At this point, there are still several moving targets that the Administration is monitoring to make this target return date a reality. The date is dependent on several factors which may impact whether we will be able to shift to a full five-days of in-person instruction, including: County metrics – ensuring COVID transmission is continuing a downward trend Pima County Health Department continued support of the District's mitigation plan and contact tracing efforts School mitigation strategies – Continued success with school mitigation plans, communication around COVID cases and contact tracing Vaccine progress – allowing time for our teachers and staff who wish to receive the vaccine to have it administered and in effect Continued low rates of transmission in the schools  One of the first steps that we will take is to distribute a commitment survey to families. The survey will allow families to indicate their preference for student learning – full five-day in-person or remote. We anticipate sending this survey out next week to families. Results from this survey will help school leaders and staff with schedules and class assignments for fourth quarter. Over the next few weeks, District leaders will work with school leadership groups to discuss planning and implementation of this transition. School leaders will collaborate closely with their site-level leadership teams to plan details specific to each school. This past year has undoubtedly challenged us as a District, community and society. A target date for a full return to in-person learning provides an opportunity to work together to prepare for this final transition. I would like to take this opportunity to share newly identified health information. We have one case of COVID-19 in a student at Mountain View High School identified on 2/10. The individual was not on campus while contagious and there were no additional exposures. We are choosing to send this notification to inform you whenever there is a confirmed positive case in the school in an effort to keep our families and staff informed. Exposure is defined as being within six feet of the sick person for more than 15 minutes while the person was infectious beginning 48 hours prior to symptom onset or the test date if asymptomatic. Regardless of the outcome of exposures, any individual who was exposed will be asked to quarantine for at least 14 days or follow the acceptable options to shorten quarantine outlined here. Visit MUSD's COVID-19 Resource and Communications Center to access links and information related to support services, mitigation plans, meal options and more. MUSD also maintains a COVID-19 Dashboard, which is a live, real-time tracking system of active and resolved cases giving you a snapshot of COVID-19 at MUSD. The Dashboard is refreshed every five minutes, so data will change as it is entered. MUSD continues to follow the public health safety guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Pima County Health Department.
