College Signing Day at Mountain View!!!!!! Come help us send off our Class of 2019 as they commit to a college, university, the military or the work force. All parents are welcome to attend. We will have a very special guest speaker. Festivities begin at 8 a.m. in the Mountain View Auditorium. Seniors will then leave for our annual Graduation Walk to our feeder schools. We encourage our seniors to wear college gear and have their caps and gowns ready to wear for the Grad Walk.

Hello, and good morning to you! A short note as we go into the final few days of the 2018-19 school year. I will not be giving a traditional final exam in my English classes this year. Instead, students were assigned a final project to be completed in class this week. I know everyone is tired and ready to begin summer break. That said, in these last few days, it is crucial that students remain focused so that they end the year successfully. Deadlines and extended deadlines have come and gone for missing or incomplete work, and final projects are due no later than Friday, May 17, 2019.  | Principal's Message Good evening Mountain Lion family, Congratulations to Coach Spivey and the Boys Volleyball team. They competed this past Saturday in the Arizona State Championship match. Although the outcome was not as they would have hoped, they played incredibly hard and truly made their school and community very proud. Great job everyone! This is final exam week for our seniors. We sent the schedule out last Friday and it is also attached to our Mountain Lion Monday this evening. There are a few changes to the schedule from previous years so please take a look at the schedule. All other semester exams will be administered next week. Thursday will be our senior BBQ – all seniors are invited to attend and receive free food – come out to the stadium and enjoy. Friday will be our College Signing Day and Grad Walk. If you are a parent of a member of the Class of 2019 please come see your child walk through the halls of our feeder schools and celebrate their commencement. This is one of our favorite events all year. CSD begins at 8 a.m. in the auditorium with a very special guest speaker. Grad Walk will follow and we hope to have our buses loaded by 9 a.m. Graduation is on Tuesday, with the festivities beginning at 8 p.m. on Wayne Jones Field. Come help us celebrate our Class of 2019! The last day for our teachers is Thursday, May 23rd. There will be a party that morning for us to thank our teachers. Freshmen –Junior devices will be collected on May 17. Assessment of Device Condition and Chargers - At collection, the condition of devices will be assessed. If a family purchased insurance through the district, standard accidental repairs will be covered*. If the device shows intentional damage e.g., scratching or etching on the case, a fee will be assessed. If the device is lost or not returned, a replacement charge will be applied to the student's account. Fees assessed to Seniors must be paid prior to graduation. Fees assessed to Freshmen – Junior students will be billed over the summer and must be paid when received.
- If the charger is lost and not replaced at the time of return with an ASUS charger a $25.00 fee will be assessed to the student's account.
- If the device is not returned or is damaged beyond economical repair, as determined by the district, a $235.00 replacement device fee will be assigned to the student's account.
*Other charges for damage or loss of parts will be subject to review by the school and Technology Department. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be notified of such charges. After collection, students will receive a receipt to verify that the device was collected, and to note any obvious damages or charges.
Attention: Families of Students Entering Mountain View High School in August 2019
Registration for Mountain View High School's freshmen summer transition camp, Elevate is now open. An email with the brochure and a link to the registration form was sent to the families of all newly registered freshmen. If you did not receive the email, and your student will be a freshman and is registered for next school year, please contact Lois Sims in the counseling office.
In addition to Elevate, our New Student and Freshmen Orientation event will be held from 8:15 to 11:30 am, on Thursday, August 1. Students will take an informative tour, hear helpful tips from staff and students, and have an opportunity to walk their schedule. There will also be a Welcome Meeting and Community Barbecue for our new students and their families. Students and families do not need to register for the orientation event.
We are very excited about both events, and look forward to meeting all of our new students. The Summer Lunch Buddies Food Program & Marana Cares Mobile is offering Free Nutritious Meals This Summer!
Throughout the summer, select school locations are providing FREE nutritious meals and fun activities to kids 18 years and younger.
Kids can spend time with friends and enjoy meals at no cost while school is out. In accordance with all USDA rules and regulations, breakfast and lunch meals will be provided to all children without charge. Enrollment in a MUSD school is not required. No registration/application is required. Get dates, times and locations for Summer Lunch Buddies Program and information on Marana Cares Mobile service! There will be some new requirements for parking permits and off-campus passes for next year, please see below:
Parking Permits: - To be eligible for a parking permit for the 2019-2020 school year: 1) Meet all parking privilege expectations; 2) Have no more than 10 tardies in your first scheduled class of the day during the 4th quarter.
- Students who are not initially eligible for a 2019-2020 parking permit due to tardies, may become eligible by demonstrating on-time behavior during the first quarter of the school year.
- Any students who has 10 or more tardies during the during the first quarter, will have their parking permit revoked.
Off-Campus Passes: - To be eligible for an off-campus pass for the 2019-2020 school year: 1) Meet all off-campus pass expectations; 2) Have no more than 10 tardies in periods 2-6 during the 4th quarter.
- Students who are not initially eligible for a 2019-2020 off-campus pass due to tardies, may become eligible by demonstrating on-time behavior during the first quarter of the school year.
- Any students who has 10 or more tardies during the first quarter, will have their off-campus pass revoked for three-weeks.
All students should have their student ID with them at all times. If your student needs one, they can get one in the Bookstore. Office Hours for Mountain View are 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM Students and Parents - The D-wing gate is now open in the morning, please pull forward to drop off your student. Students without a Zero Hour will be allowed on campus at 8:00 AM. Students arriving late after last bell will need to go to the front office to enter campus. With our increased security measures, students being picked up early need to enter the office near the library rather than the back office doors. Please do not park in the first 10 stops in front of the JTED building. Those are reserved for the preschool. Also, please do not make any U-turns in that area. Parents:
Just a friendly reminder that any ill student that needs to go home must report to the health office before calling a parent. They can call their parent from the office.
We will not send passes up if parent arrives before the student reports to the health office.
Student may ask their teacher for a health office pass. Parents, if your child is ill and you call them out as such, please keep them home. This will keep the germs from spreading.
A Note from the Attendance Office
When a student's absence or late arrival may be excused, the parent/guardian should communicate with the Attendance Office so that the absence or late arrival will be appropriately recorded.
"STUDENT ABSENCES"
In order to request that an absence be excused, the parent/guardian must call and leave a message on the Attendance Line within 24 hours of the absence. The Attendance Line voicemail is available 24/7 at 520-579-4444.
"STUDENT LATE ARRIVALS"
Unless excused, a student's late arrival(s) are recorded as "Unexcused Tardy/Late". If a parent/guardian would like to request that the late arrival(s) be excused, the parent/guardian must either come into the school with the student and provide the late excuse to the Front Office staff, or call the Attendance Line voicemail at 520-579-4444 and leave a "request to excuse" message for the late arrival. Wow- here we are already! Freshman year is almost over. Just a note for the final week of school... 1. Be sure your student has their chrome book and charger on Friday for turn in. 2. Final Exam in Biology will occur on Monday May 20 for period 1&2, Tuesday May 21 for period 3&4, and Wed May 22 for period 5. If your student will not be here on the day of their final, they must get a pre- approval of absence form from guidance in order to take the final on an alternate day/time. The final will be a paper- pencil type final since the chrome books will have been collected. I will be posting old tests to review this week and also providing a packet for review. 3. Any missing or late work from the Evolution unit is due by this Thursday May 16th at 3:10. I has been a fun year helping these freshman to grow and learn. Have a safe, relaxing summer.
