 | Principal's Message Good evening Mountain Lion family, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and had a chance to enjoy the tremendous weather. Unfortunately I think that was the end of our spring and we will soon be missing those temperatures. However, as the heat turns on outside it brings us closer to graduation and our celebration of our senior class. This morning we had the opportunity to meet with our Class of 2019 Top Ten. This group of students is destined to change the world and we have been fortunate to have a front row seat to their current accomplishments. Each year in the spring we interact with a number of our graduating students. We are awed by the stories they share and by the goals they have set for themselves. We know it takes more than a village these days to raise children but we also know that our community does a great job at this. We raise some of the finest in Arizona and are truly proud to call them Mountain Lions. This is our last week of AZ Merit testing. Our teachers and students have responded well to the challenges presented by the block schedules and having visited our classes have been witness to our teachers making the most of the extended time. Next week we will return to normalcy with regards to our schedule as we head toward the 2019 Prom on April 27th. Have a great week and holiday weekend. Todd Garelick

Parents and Students,
There will be some new requirements for parking permits and off-campus passes for next year, please see below:
Parking Permits: - To be eligible for a parking permit for the 2019-2020 school year: 1) Meet all parking privilege expectations; 2) Have no more than 10 tardies in your first scheduled class of the day during the 4th quarter.
- Students who are not initially eligible for a 2019-2020 parking permit due to tardies, may become eligible by demonstrating on-time behavior during the first quarter of the school year.
- Any students who has 10 or more tardies during the during the first quarter, will have their parking permit revoked.
Off-Campus Passes: - To be eligible for an off-campus pass for the 2019-2020 school year: 1) Meet all off-campus pass expectations; 2) Have no more than 10 tardies in periods 2-6 during the 4th quarter.
- Students who are not initially eligible for a 2019-2020 off-campus pass due to tardies, may become eligible by demonstrating on-time behavior during the first quarter of the school year.
- Any students who has 10 or more tardies during the during the first quarter, will have their off-campus pass revoked for three-weeks.
Elevate Announcement: Attention: Families of Students Entering Mountain View High School in August 2019 Mountain View High School is offering a free summer transition camp, Elevate, for freshmen who are entering Mountain View in August, 2019. Camp will be held on Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30, from 8:15 to 11:30 am. The purpose of Elevate is to welcome new students to our campus and to give them an opportunity to have fun, meet new friends and teachers, and learn what it's like to be a Mountain Lion.
On Monday, April 22, an email with the brochure and a link to the registration form will be sent to the families of all newly registered freshmen. If you do not receive the email, and your student will be a freshman and is registered for next school year, please contact Lois Sims in the counseling office. Registration will open on Tuesday, April 23.
All students should have their student ID with them at all times. If your student needs one, they can get one in the Bookstore.
Office Hours for Mountain View are 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM Students and Parents - The D-wing gate is now open in the morning, please pull forward to drop off your student. Students without a Zero Hour will be allowed on campus at 8:00 AM. Students arriving late after last bell will need to go to the front office to enter campus. With our increased security measures, students being picked up early need to enter the office near the library rather than the back office doors. Please do not park in the first 10 stops in front of the JTED building. Those are reserved for the preschool. Also, please do not make any U-turns in that area. Parents:
Just a friendly reminder that any ill student that needs to go home must report to the health office before calling a parent. They can call their parent from the office.
We will not send passes up if parent arrives before the student reports to the health office.
Student may ask their teacher for a health office pass. Parents, if your child is ill and you call them out as such, please keep them home. This will keep the germs from spreading.
A Note from the Attendance Office
When a student's absence or late arrival may be excused, the parent/guardian should communicate with the Attendance Office so that the absence or late arrival will be appropriately recorded.
"STUDENT ABSENCES"
In order to request that an absence be excused, the parent/guardian must call and leave a message on the Attendance Line within 24 hours of the absence. The Attendance Line voicemail is available 24/7 at 520-579-4444. If a "request to excuse" message is not received, the attendance clerks will attempt to contact the parent/guardian so they may properly record the student's absence(s). If no response is received from the parent/guardian the absence(s) will be recorded as unexcused.
"STUDENT LATE ARRIVALS"
Unless excused, a student's late arrival(s) are recorded as "Unexcused Tardy/Late". If a parent/guardian would like to request that the late arrival(s) be excused, the parent/guardian must either come into the school with the student and provide the late excuse to the Front Office staff, or call the Attendance Line voicemail at 520-579-4444 and leave a "request to excuse" message for the late arrival. Please note: the Attendance Office does not contact parents/guardians regarding late arrivals. |  | College, Career, Counseling Dear MVHS Parent(s)/Guardian(s), In an effort to help students better understand their graduation status, the MVHS Counseling department is in the process of meeting with or has met with all of our Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen students who are considered at-risk to not graduate on time. We have talked with your student(s) about the importance of passing all their current classes and what it will take for them to be able to graduate on time. For the class of 2020: Counselors met with all Juniors one-on-one in January and an advisement letter was mailed home which, contained your student's post-high school plan and a credit recovery plan if needed. A follow-up email/letter with specific summer school registration information that was not available when we met with your student in January, was sent in April to update parent(s)/guardian(s) if their student required credit recovery. For the class of 2021 and 2022: A letter will be mailed home for students who need a credit recovery plan. | Principal's Message Good evening Mountain Lion family, We completed our book study last week with our teachers at Mountain View. This has been an exciting spring and we are looking forward to the implementation of the ideas we learned about from our book next year. As we shared earlier, the book we read was Grading from the Inside Out by Tom Schimmer. Should you have interest, our administrative team would be more than willing to sit down and discuss the book with you. Our first week of AZ Merit testing is in the books. We have two more weeks of testing with a modified schedule and then we will be back to normal operations. Our students did a great job last week and we are hoping for more of the same this week and next week. Thank you in advance for making sure your child has plenty of sleep and a good breakfast before testing. Our next meeting with the Class of 2019 will take place on Monday, April 29th, at 10:15 a.m. in the auditorium. Though we will continue to communicate through social media, emails and letters home, we also wanted to make this available to parents to attend and learn more about our graduation ceremony.
