With reference to Kelds mail below: As I have understood it RDS is a system where you can identify and reference an unique physical object (from 3 topological aspects) within, for example, a power plant. This means that you can build a representation of the plant as a hierarchy of objects (and the relations between objects?). I can see a need to be able to categorize what objects a topic is related to/describes. This is needed for filtering or retrieval purposes. The new subject scheme feature in DITA 1.2 could be used to address this issue (as you see I'm a big fan of this feature). Each unique object in the RDS is "registered" as a subject in the scheme map. Then the RDS for a specific plant could be seen as a taxonomy. Further more a classification map could be used to relate DITA topics the a subject with in the scheme. One problem with the subject scheme feature of DITA 1.2, as I see it, is the fact that you can classify a DITA topic using the topicmeta part and then do the same thing using a subject scheme, where there are no coordination. In fact you can state one thing in the topicmeta, but state contradictory data in your classification map. We surely need to look into this from our work group. The subject scheme feature is primarely intended to define ENUMs to not hardcode them in a DTD, but the sheme can also be used to represent the subjects a topic is describing, for example parts or objects/products in a machine or plant. I'm planning to give some more input which is also related to the ditatoctemp proposal and the filtering proposal. RDS is Reference Designation System and is used in various places for example the energy sector. The overall foundation for this is the ISO-81346, which is quite abstract. However VGB have developed a solution called RDS-PP (Power Plant) which is a concrete suggestion to build a RDS system for the wind energy sector. It is in close family with KKS which I can imagine will be included in the RDS-PP for the future. I was under the impression that if the probability of missingness depends on the value observed for some other data (MAR), then by including this data and structuring the likelihood correctly then correct inferences (i.e. in the absence of missingness) could be made. Given that the default na.action of lmer seems to deletes other data (complete case analysis), it is hard to see how the other data can be used to 'correct' for missingness. MCMCglmm uses augmentation for missing data. Internally, this is often used just to simplify/speed up the matrix operations using dummy data. However, I had presumed that if users really did have MAR data then the augmentation would take care of this. I know ASReml has an na.includeY argument so presumably there is something to be gained by not reducing the problem to a complete-case analysis, but perhaps this function is there just to allow users to make predictions for missing data points. =============================================================================================================================== Hi all, Let me start with a disclaimer. I don't know the details of any of the previous arrangements about Groovy books from O'Reilly, so I can't speak to that. What I can say, however, is that my interactions with everyone at O'Reilly have been uniformly positive and helpful. I'm also sure that whatever other Groovy books may have been proposed at O'Reilly were fundamentally different from what I'm currently writing. I also wasn't going to mention any of this yet, because it's still a bit early, but the thread on Groovy books at O'Reilly is something that I feel I have to respond to. So, let me respond: Scott Davis and I are working on a Groovy book, to be published by O'Reilly, entitled "Making Java Groovy". We hope to have it available by the end of this year. Some obvious FAQs: 1. What's the book about? The goal of "Making Java Groovy" (MJG) is to show existing Java developers how to add Groovy to their systems in order to make their lives easier. It's really a book about Java/Groovy integration, rather than being a pure Groovy book. In that we're following the Groovy philosophy, which is that Groovy doesn't replace Java, it works with Java to get the job done. 2. How is "Making Java Groovy" different from all the other Groovy books in the marketplace? I'm a huge fan of GinA ("Groovy in Action", of course), which is one of my all-time favorite technical books on any subject. I think Dierk Koenig and his co-authors did a brilliant job on that book and will order the second edition as soon as it's announced. I'm also a big fan of Scott's "Groovy Recipes" book, and I had the great pleasure of being one of the technical reviewers on Venkat Subramaniam's excellent "Programming Groovy" book. I'm a book fan, actually, so I also have "Groovy and Grails Recipes", "Beginning Groovy and Grails", all the Grails-specific books I could find (especially DGG2, which totally rocks), and even that old academic book on Groovy programming. I'd say, therefore, that I'm pretty familiar with the marketplace, and MJG is attempting to fill a role that is different from all the others. Our book assumes that you're not necessarily free to replace everything you have with Groovy code, but instead want to leverage Groovy to make you more productive in the Java world. For example, if you can build your application using Grails, then more power to you. Grails is wonderful, and the fact that it uses Spring and Hibernate under the hood is pretty well hidden if you don't need to access that functionality directly. If, on the other hand, you don't have the freedom to do everything in Grails, then Groovy can still play an important role. That's especially true if you're using the Spring framework, like most of the industry. We have a dedicated chapter on using the Groovy capabilities of Spring. (By the way, if you want to get a sense of what that particular chapter is about, see my article on Groovy/Spring integration in the February issue of GroovyMag.) Most of the book will follow that pattern. We've got chapters planned on using Groovy with databases (with a nod to Robert Fischer's upcoming book on that topic), using Groovy in your build system (Gant, AntBuilder, Grape, and so on), taking advantage of Groovy's testing capabilities, working with XML, how Groovy can be used in web services, building user interfaces with Groovy's builders, and even Griffon. In each case, our focus is on how Groovy helps you be more productive. 3. Who are you and why are you qualified to write an O'Reilly book on Groovy? First of all, Scott Davis probably needs no introduction to this group. He's the author of "Groovy Recipes" and several other books, a JavaOne superstar, internationally known speaker and consultant, and combines all of that with being a really good guy. (Just don't tell him I said so.) My own credentials in this area aren't as showy , but I've been working with Groovy and Grails for the past couple of years, and with Java and related technologies since the mid 90's. My primary job is as an instructor teaching technical training classes, but I also do consulting, mentoring, and my own development projects. I've been a tech editor on several books, a speaker at No Fluff Just Stuff conferences, and have been working in industry for the past 20 years or so. For what it's worth, I'm also an adjunct professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in their Hartford, CT location, and have a range of academic degrees, most of which I no longer use. California Carbon Capture and Storage Review Panel Meeting

The final meeting of the California Carbon Capture and Storage
Review Panel will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. The
California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities
Commission, and the California Air Resources Board have formed
this panel to review carbon capture and storage (CCS) policy and
develop recommendations that could help guide legislation,
regulations and policy regarding CCS in California. CCS has been
identified as a potential strategy for reducing greenhouse gas
emissions from major industrial sites.

Other state agencies interested and involved in the issue are the
California Department of Conservation and the California State
Water Resources Control Board.

Karmic Alpha 6 will again use a "soft freeze" for main[1]. This means that developers are asked to refrain from uploading packages between Tuesday and Thursday which don't bring us closer to releasing the alpha, so that these days can be used for settling the archive and fixing any remaining showstoppers.
